For me, iDrink07 really started at around 21:00 and not in 19:00 as it should have.
19:00 was cool, there were a lot of people already but it wasn't too crowded. By 19:45 you couldn't move, or have more than 2 inches of space, or not be wet. It was too crowded. I can't say anything bad, except iDrink07 was a success; a too-successful-event done in a wrong place, in a small place.
I had to go out for some air with friends and to take a walk instead of mingling and soacializing. I got in at around 21:00, when the startup presentations were over, and when people started going outside to mingle and to get air. this is when when I got in back inside. In a matter of minutes i succeeded to meet new people, exchange cards and schedule talks to the days to come. I take these events seriously, so when i come to a social event I expect the space to fit. When I wrote in Ning i was coming, i started getting all those emails from other men and women who registered themselves… i realized it was going to be crowded, I think the organizers new it too.
so, a crowd is good. Very crowded place isn't good. And as iDrink just became an institution for the internet industry (in a sense that "you gotta be there") the organizers must deliver better environments next times.

I need a new laptop. my beloved, yet old and heavy IBM T30's cable has malfunctioned and left my laptop's battery dead and run out.
It actually left me with my other laptop, a shitty, very unreliable 1 kilo Toshiba Portage that get stuck on every move.Two things (it might be more though) i thought about in the last two days. One is that I wanna find a new word for my cellular phone and the only word that comes into mind is a Communicator, originally from Star Trek. My cell phone is run by a symbian OS, has Blue Tooth, WiFi capability, a camera ( i use more than i use the phone as a phone) and and some open office apps at my disposal. In essence, i communicate with it more, in the wide sense of the word communication than i speak the phone with it.
The second thing I thought about was that, even though I thought trying a new rss reader would do me good, i see, i dont use the web based service I started. What would work for me? after trying the browser version and the web version, i'm willing to try an application that would act like a messenger service. I want a small window that will show me my contacts (rss feed names). The details of it aren't important. i'm gonna find what's new in this erea that wouldnt take all of my PC's power.
Third thing is that I invented a Facebook application for desktops. Its answers needs i found for myself (often, needs of many, as i found out) and originally drew it down on a napkin on a restaurant after i read Jeff Pulver's status on Facebook. He was "inspired".

בשיחה שקיימתי הבוקר עם שני סטאראפיסטים בנושא רשת סמנטית ( שם קוד: ווב 3.0, אבל בחיי שלא אמרנו מילה על זה) התברר שלי ולאחד מהשניים יש אהבה משותפת לאיפיון ממשקי משתמש. בירור קצר העלה שיש בערך שניים וחצי בלוגים בעברית (אני לא מגזים) על ממשקים וחוויית משתמש.
הידוע מכולם הוא של אמיר דותן, שמלמד ויושב בלונדון וכותב את "עיצוב שמיש" בעברית.
חיפוש קצר בגוגל כדי להגדיל את הרפרטואר הביא לי את יוזרX של עינת ענבל.
אם יש לכם בעיות עם לקרוא אנגלית (זה לא בושה) רססו את עצמכם לבלוגים שלהם.
אם עוברים קצת לאנגלית אפשר לתת מבחר קצת יותר גדול:
כריס באום כותב על הממשק בין המעצבים והאנשים שעושים את הביזנס בחברות ומציע למעצבים שחושבים שהם יכולים לעשות החלטות עסקיות בשביל החברה לא לקפוץ מעל הפופיק, לפחות לא כל כך מהר. היה מעניין מאד לקרא את זה.
ג'ס מק'מאלין גם הוא כותב על הממשק בין עיצוב ואיפיון הממשקים ליחסים עם החליפות. הבלוג שלו, ממה שהתרשמתי הוא בעיקר לינקוקיה שלמה ל"אני הולך להרצות פה", "אני פוגש את זה וזה", "הזמינו אותי להיות הkeynote שם ושם" ומעבר לזה, אני לא יודע אם הוא נדיב עם הידע שלו. אבל אולי בכל זאת אפשר לדלות שם מידע וזה המידע על הכנסים החשובים בעולם והאנשים שמסובבים את התעשייה הזו. גם זה חשוב כשלומדים מקצוע.
לאנשי הממשק של יאהו יש בלוג. זה גם שמו. קישרתי כאן פוסט שהיה לי תענוג לקריאה, אבל בעיקר תענוג אמיתי של צפייה בסרט וידאו בן 50 ומשהו דקות של אחד מהמעצבים שלהם, ביל סקוט, שבדיוק עוזב אותם לחברה אחרת. מומלץ בחום ונותן גישה להמון רעיונות בעיקר כי הוא מקבץ אותם בהרצאה אחת. בעיה אחת: הנגן של יאהו חמוד, אבל אי אפשר לפתוח אותו על חלון שלם.
